A Theory is a well-substantiated explanation of some aspects of the natural world that is acquired through the scientific method and repeatedly tested and confirmed, preferably using a written, pre-defined, protocol of observations and experiments. Theory can also be defined as a contemplative and rational type of abstract or generalizing thinking about a phenomenon, or the results of such thinking.
